Demolition in St. Lucie County, at the scale you need

Stripping one kitchen and clearing a lot after a storm share a starting point: the permit office, the utilities and the asbestos notice have to line up first. Pick the closest match below, or call us.

Start to finish

The same order, small job or large

  1. Reach out

Phone us or use the form. Include the address, what is coming down, what is staying, and photos or plans if you have them.

  2. We look at the property

We check the structure, where power, water and sewer or septic connect, how equipment and trucks reach the work, and what is next door.

  3. A written scope and quote

It lists what is removed, what is protected and what is hauled, and flags anything that depends on the asbestos survey.

  4. Survey, notice, letters, permit

A licensed asbestos survey, the state demolition notice, the utility letters, then the permit from the city, town or county.

  5. Demolition and hauling

Work follows the agreed order. Debris goes to permitted facilities, and the tickets are kept.

  6. Final inspection

The inspector closes the permit. You get a cleared lot, or the shell you asked us to leave.

Questions

What owners usually ask

Is any job too small or too large in size for you?

No. We quote a single shed, a screen enclosure, a pool, a mobile home or a full commercial building, and partial jobs where most of the structure stays. Tell us what is on the property and what must remain, and the quote follows that.

Who issues a demolition permit in St. Lucie?

That depends on the parcel. Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce and St. Lucie Village each run their own permitting, and the county's Building and Code Regulations Division handles all unincorporated land. The county's building guidance applies permits to the removal and demolition of every building or structure. When you hire Romco, we file as contractor of record and schedule inspections through the final. Check the current requirements with the office for your parcel.

Do I need an asbestos survey if I think there is no asbestos?

The state's position is that every demolition needs a written notice, even when no asbestos is found, and the notice has to be filed at least ten working days before demolition begins. St. Lucie notices go to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Southeast District. A building permit does not take its place. Fort Pierce also asks for an asbestos report on older homes and commercial buildings. Romco books a licensed survey and brings in a licensed abatement firm for any material found, since we hold no abatement license ourselves.
